Course introduction
This course explains how power and sample size calculations are used to plan biomedical studies. It focuses on the assumptions that determine the required sample size, including the expected effect size, outcome variability or event rate, significance level, desired power, group allocation, and anticipated dropout.
Worked examples in R show how these calculations are performed for common study outcomes and how the results should be interpreted in practice.
